DETAILS:

WHO:

You! All are welcome - adults, kids, babies in strollers, etc… the more the merrier!

WHERE:

Our meeting place will be a waterfront airbnb we’ve rented at 6333 Crystal Springs Drive, Bainbridge Island, WA. Carpooling is recommended!

WHAT:

We’re starting with a 5k or 5 mile fun run or walk - choose your own adventure! We’ll all head south on Crystal Springs Drive and out to the end of the Point White Pier, then turn around and head back. The 5k folks will head straight back to the start in an out & back format. This route is mostly paved with a small amount of gravel, and mostly flat but there’s one smallish hill at the start and a bigger hill at the end for a total of 278 feet of elevation gain.

On the way back from Point White Pier, the 5 mile folks will break off and turn right before Baker Hill Rd. to climb up the formidable Veterane Trail, head past Gazzam Lake, turn left on the main Westwood Shore Trail, left on Knudsen trail and switchback all the way back down Knudsen to Crystal Springs Dr. We’ll have some markers on the trail portion of the course so you won’t get lost. Total elevation: 592 feet. Check out the Strava route here.

You’re welcome to go all out and shoot for your PR, or meander at a slow walking pace so you can chat with folks and gaze at the lovely view along the way. You can even ditch the route and turn around early if you want! No chip timing or age group rankings here, folks.

AFTER all the running / walking shenanigans, we’ll roll into a casual potluck brunch on site. In your RSVP below, please indicate what you’re planning to contribute so we can get an idea of how the buffet is shaping up. Beverages will be provided, as well as plates, silverware, and napkins.

WHEN:

Plan to arrive by 10am to find parking, drop off potluck contributions at the house, say hi to old and new friends, and shake out those legs! Our run/walk will start at 10:30am, and the potluck will start after the run/walk.

HOW:

In style! 70’s running/exercise attire is encouraged for those who like to dress up! Think tube socks, sweat bands, track suits, short shorts… or just come as you are. 😊

WHY:

Because… why not? I feel so blessed to have an amazing community of friends and family near and far, and I’d love to celebrate my half-century mark with all of you!

MISCELLANEOUS:

In case you’re wondering… I know this is a birthday celebration, but PLEASE no presents! I mean it!

Please give me a shout if you have any questions at all! My email is jjmhenderson@gmail.com and my phone number is 206.909.2966.
